Mohammad Nagib

He was born in Sudan in 1901, and served in the Egyptian army. He became a General then headed the army’s revolution on July 23, 1952.

Upon the declaration of Egypt as a Republic in June 1953, Naguib became its first President. However, he was dismissed in November 1954, and was put under house arrest for some time. Then he was left free until his death in 1984 in Cairo.
