The paper explained that it got the story from the Egyptian News Agency claiming that the story had appeared in the Israeli daily, "Yediot Ahronot". The paper reported that it contacted Egypt's ambassador to Israel who denied that such an item appeared in an Israeli paper. "Out of concern to maintain the paper's integrity and good name, Al Ahram confirms that this serious article is deceptive and assures its readers that it will take the necessary measures in order to prevent such mistakes."
